Illustrated Talk and Guided Walk: Lifesaving on the banks of the Tyne

CITIZAN North will be at the Old Low Light Center to give a talk on lifesaving on the banks of the River Tyne and work done there in the summer season. After the talk there will be the opportunity to go on a walk with a local history and ex-member of the Tynemouth Lifeboat crew to look at some of the remains of the lifesaving infrastructure that still survived in North Tyneside today.

You’ll learn more about the history of this fascinating site and develop the skills to record and monitor features and add detail to CITiZAN’s interactive map of coastal and intertidal archaeology.

Workshop: Exploring East Coast War Channels, 1914-1918

Over a thousand vessels were sunk by German U-boats in the East Coast War Channels during the First World War, though these wrecks, their crews and associated remains are largely forgotten. Fjordr, the workshop's organiser, helps people to explore and record the remains associated with the Channels, and CITiZAN will be contributing to this workshop.
