Workshop: Ramsgate

11/09/2016  |  10:30 a.m.

Ramsgate, Kent

After a run through of CITiZAN's new smartphone app, we'll be walking the stretch of beach between King George VI Memorial Park and Ramsgate town, looking for features including a trackway, a lone stone post, remains associated with HMS Fervent and, if revealed by the shifting sands, the remains of the pipes that pumped sea water up to the spa. The data we collect will help update our interactive map of coastal archaeology. If you don't have a smartphone don't worry, we'll show you how you can still contribute using the paper version of the same forms.

We'll meet at 10.30 at the Defence of the Nation Museum and Education Centre, Ramsgate Tunnels, Marina Esplanade, Ramsgate, Kent, CT11 8LN for a run through of the app. We'll break at around 12.30 for a picnic lunch then head out onto the foreshore (low tide is at 13.50) to walk north along the beach and back. We plan to finish at 3.30; if there's time afterwards, and people want to, we can repair to a local cafe to answer any questions you might have.
