Description

Remains of 1894 wreck of Norwegian barque which stranded approximately 900 metres west of the promenade at Blackpool, on the North Shore just south of Bispham, just over 2 miles NNW of the end of the North Pier, Blackpool. The ABANA was outward-bound from Liverpool for Sapelo in ballast. Constructed of wood in 1874, she was a sailing vessel. Her remains were seen in situ together with those of the RIVERDANCE nearby (which went aground in 2008 but was recovered for scrap).
