Training: Victoria Docks

This training event is specifically for 16 - 25 year olds who wish to get some hands-on experience with archaeology. This is Festival of British Archaeology event, run in association with the Council of British Archaeology. We will be looking at the history of Victoria Docks, where Earles Shipyard was located and where there are now the remains of three timber hulled vessels.

You will learn how to use real archaeological technque such as archaeological scale planning, using archaeological recording forms and taking archaeological photograph. No previous experience is needed. Please ensure to bring appriorpate clothing for rain or sun, suitable footwear is a must, weelington are advised as the site can be very muddy. Tea, coffee and soft drinks will be provided and there will be lunch provided. There is parking avalaliable.

The day will run from 10am - 4pm and part of the morning will be spent inside, the remainder will be out on site. The site is approximately a 10 minute walk from the classroom.
