Description

This chapel was built at the east end of the older Chapel of St Mary Del Kay in 1355, and remained open after St Mary's was closed in 1550. It was last mentioned in 1565. The present Church of St Nicholas stands on the site of the chapel. The chapel flourished in the 17th century, particularly after 1650 when it was for a few years a parochial chapel in its own right, but was reunited with Walton after the Restoration. A tower had been added, to which was added a spire in 1745. A North aisle was added in 1697, and another in 1718. The tower collapsed in 1810 initiating the changes which resulted in the creation of the subsequent church.
