Description

Remains of Post-Medieval Brickworks, Brownsea Island October 2016: The kiln has eroded substantially since our last visit in July 2015, vegetation is causing the bricks to crumble at the top of the structure and the sea is eroding the base. Some sand has built up around the base however, burying some of the brick platform seen in 2015.

What actions (if any) would you recommend for this feature?

This feature was excavated by the National Trust in 2005, at the time it was recorded as suffering from erosion and this has continued rapidly. The site would benefit from regular monitoring particularly after storm events or extreme high tides as the current high water mark reaches the site.
